Having begun his career in 1989 in Arthur Young & Company’s Nashville office, Christopher J. Monte learned everything he could about auditing, taxation and financial reporting through various roles during his 16 years with the company. After its merger with Ernst & Whinney to form Ernst & Young (now EY), he transitioned to the office in Columbus, Ohio, where he remained from 2002 until 2005. In 2005, he left EY to join LifePoint Hospitals as vice president of the tax department.

In his leadership role, Mr. Monte manages tax compliance, handles financial and employment tax reporting, processes payroll, and prepares corporate income tax returns. He also offers tax consultations, utilizing his strong background and knowledge of financial analysis, accounting and auditing when advising a range of clients. After 10 years with the company, which provides comprehensive services at hospital facilities in 21 states, he has become an expert in taxation for the health care sector.

Mr. Monte earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from The University of Tennessee at Martin in 1989 and became a certified public accountant two years later. He is a member of the Tax Executives Institute, the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the American Institute of CPAs.
