Washington, PA, July 11, 2014, Joseph M. Jefferson, President (Retired) of Washington Federal Savings Bank, has been recognized by Elite American Executives for dedication, achievements and leadership in banking.
Mr. Jefferson is a highly regarded banking professional who dedicated 52 years of service to the field. He excelled in employee and job matching, and was responsible for working with the Adjunct League Program for community banks in Pittsburgh, Pa., fostering individual and home mortgages, and attending meetings at the bank regarding the retirement program he established. Mr. Jefferson got started as a banking employee handling GI loans in 1945. Although he did not know anything about the banking industry at the time, he found that he truly enjoyed working with others, and helping them reach their hopes and dreams.
Mr. Jefferson served in the U.S. Navy in the Submarine Service in the Pacific from 1943 to 1945; he left the service with the rank of lieutenant. During his years of service, Mr. Jefferson earned the Navy Commendation Medal and other various medals. He attributes his success to his ability to promote banking in every way possible during his career, as well as his interest in his fellow man.
