Mr. Mercado has spent more than 30 years providing information technology services to various organizations, including universities and colleges, as well as accounting and distribution companies. He started working with IT systems in Puerto Rico and steadily progressed throughout the industry. Mr. Mercado is recognized for his analytical thinking and troubleshooting abilities, and handles a myriad of responsibilities. In his role, he is tasked with setting up office systems for emergency response organizations and ensuring they are linked to FEMA and fully operational at all times. Mr. Mercado joined FEMA two years ago and has become an integral member of the organization’s staff. He attributes his success to his focus and dedication, as well as keeping abreast of changes in the information technology industry. Looking toward the future, Mr. Mercado would like to be more focused on voice over information technology and become an expert in this aspect of the field.
