Ms. Mayer is the sole proprietor of More Than Words, a freelance publishing consultancy that has provided editorial and production services since 1985. In addition to writing and editing, she has kindergarten through 12th grade teaching experience and has worked with adult professionals to improve their written communication skills. She has received two awards of merit in editing from the Society for Technical Communications and is a published poet. Ms. Mayer has presented papers at both the Exploring Childhood Studies conference and the 37th Annual International Children’s Literature Association conference. She also teaches summer classes at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey in Camden.

In her current capacity, Ms. Mayer is responsible for overseeing production services for diverse clients, including small nonprofits, private individuals, and major corporations, and for proofreading, preparing manuscripts, writing, editing, and designing layouts. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in childhood studies at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey at Camden. She has amassed more than 31 years of professional experience and she continues to strive for excellence in her every endeavor.
