For a quarter of a century, Mr. Basford employed his hard work and dedication into establishing an innovative packaging solutions company. With five plants across five states, he oversaw all business operations including long-term planning for corrugated containers, point-of-purchase displays and point-of-sale packaging services. An expert in executive control, Mr. Basford’s longevity in his field has set him apart from his colleagues and brought him to the forefront of a unique industry.

The most rewarding part of Mr. Basford’s career was witnessing the result of his efforts in the vast success and sustainability of Buckeye Corrugated, Inc. Along the way, he worked with influential and impassioned workers for whom he attributes the success of the company, and his personal motivation to always work toward the next goal. He left a profound impact on the corrugated boxes industry when he retired, including his wisdom to those emerging in the field: Never give up.

Mr. Basford completed college coursework from Kent State University, where he is renowned for his fundraising efforts. An advocate of higher education, he also is very involved with voluntary initiatives for The Ohio State University. In 2002, Mr. Basford was the recipient of OSU’s Gerlach Award, an honor for outstanding volunteer work named after John B. “Bernie” Gerlach Sr. Mr. Gerlach was considered one of the most active and dedicated supporters of The Ohio State University; thus, Mr. Basford considers this admirable honor to be his greatest career accomplishment. Further, he was named Executive of the Year representing the Corrugated Packaging Solutions industry by Cambridge Who’s Who in 2010.

Despite his retirement, Mr. Basford intends to remain active in his field in the coming years. With a plethora of insight from 25 years of experience, he plans to consult on executive control processes for innovative packaging solutions. Moreover, Mr. Basford hopes to enjoy his longtime hobbies of golf and traveling.
