With 37 years of overall experience, he has met with success due to his admirable leadership skills and ability to prioritize the best interests of his staff. As someone deserving of respect, Mr. Herbert understands the necessity of mirroring the same level of esteem back to his subordinates. For Mr. Herbert, the highlight of his career was experiencing progression through the industry and receiving promotions to recognize his capacities.

Growing up in a family of merchant marines, it was natural for Mr. Herbert to become involved in harbor operations. Upon graduating from high school he pursued and completed a Bachelor of Science in nautical science from the United States Merchant Marine Academy. He went on to retain a Chief Mate’s License by fulfilling the requirements of the United States Coast Guard. A certified incident commander, and firefighter, Mr. Herbert’s repertoire of skills has created his steadfast role in the industry and earned him many accolades, including the title of Cambridge Who’s Who VIP in 2010.

When he is away from his professional duties, Mr. Herbert lends his support to United Way of America, and reads industry-related publications such as the U.S. Maritime Journal. He finds solace in golfing, swimming, and spending time with his family. In five years, Mr. Herbert hopes to settle into retirement on a beach in the Caribbean.
