With two decades of professional experience, Mr. Smith has spent the last six years focused on improving health and safety policies for Mollenberg-Betz, Inc. Dedicated and compassionate, he exudes an unwavering love for his job which allows him to prioritize and effectively reduce the number of on-the-job fatalities and injuries. In addition to inspecting job sites and recommending improved procedures for the health and welfare of all of the employees on staff, Mr. Smith works directly with OSHA to ensure compliance and coordinate with emerging standards for safety. Recently, Mr. Smith established a safety certification program, which he hopes to see through to a degree curriculum.
In recognition of his commitment to his industry, Mr. Smith was named Safety Professional of the Year by the Niagara Frontier Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers. He was also deemed Professional of the Year representing Occupational Health & Safety by Cambridge Publishing for 2010/2011. Having previously served in the U.S. Army, Mr. Smith was a two-time recipient of an Army Commendation Medal, and received an Army Achievement Medal and Bronze Star. Attributing his success to the support he receives from his wife, Mr. Smith considers his accolades to be a blessing from God.
Mr. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science in health and safety education from Eastern Illinois University, which he earned in 1979. He is an authorized Occupational Health and Safety Administration instructor, a certified construction health and safety technician, and a certified safety and health manager. To remain current with industry trends and advances, he maintains affiliation with the Institute for Safety and Health Management, and the American Society of Safety Engineers.
